The Black Sheep is a space housing a community based on volunteers and artists. There are lots of things going on and a lot of talents being used to improve our space and community, and there are plenty of ways you can help!
We host monthly roundtable meetings where we brainstorm new things that we can do to improve our space and music scene in Springfield. Anyone and everyone is welcome to come to these meetings and we encourage you to come even if you don’t have anything to say!
Our next roundtable meeting is Sunday, May 10th at 7:00 pm inside of Black Sheep.
Our roundtable meetings are also meetings for the Black Sheep Street Team where we distribute fliers and CDs for upcoming shows and events. Anyone is welcomed to join our street team and for anyone interested we encourage you to come out to our next roundtable meeting. We also have a page on our forum set up for the Black Sheep Street Team, which includes a long list of flier locations in Springfield.
Can’t make it to our meetings? That’s okay! There are still plenty of ways to get involved. If you are interested in helping promote shows we have fliers available online for you to print out at home or elsewhere on our flickr page.
You also don’t have to come to our meetings to book and help set up shows. We have our booking page set up for you to read and find out more about that, and we encourage you to contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested in setting a show up.
Are you an artist? We are always looking for artists to add new pieces to the inside our our space and we are pretty flexible with times you can come in and where new pieces can go up. You don’t even have to be good at art! Just talk to Brian, Brandon, Miles, or one of us at any show, or come to the next roundtable meeting if you are interested in adding some new art to our space.
Do you like to cook? We are always open to people bringing food to shows to feed the bands and show-goers! We are usually open to this happening at any show, but if you could give us a heads up if you are bringing food to a show that would be great too!
Are you interested in helping us run our website? We are in desperate need volunteers for this one! You can email us at email@example.com if you are interested in helping out with the site in any way. We are always looking for help in contributing news, writing articles, and updating all of the pages on the site.
Are you interested in helping out with our radio show? We are looking for help building our playlists and finding guests to come in! You can email firstname.lastname@example.org if interested.
Want to help out with Dumb Records in some way? Shoot an email to email@example.com if you are interested in volunteering or just come in and talk to us!
If you don’t think that you will be able to do any of the things listed above that’s okay! If we had to pick one thing that helps our music community out the most, we would say coming to shows is the most important thing. Sometimes just showing up to watch and/or talk to the bands means the world to them, us, and everyone involved.
