Evan Mitchell: “Busted Cigarette”

Taylorville American solo one man band artist Evan Mitchell has done gone country! Earlier this fall Evan dropped his first country music single called “Busted Cigarette.” The tune comes from an upcoming full length country album by Evan, which we may have more info for you on soon. You can check out “Busted Cigarette” on the youtube player embedded below.

Evan Mitchell does not have any shows lined up in town right now as far as we can tell.

Looming and Screaming Females Debut New Songs

Wow, this weekend has been a good one for new music coming out – could you believe it but both Screaming Females and Looming both debuted brand new songs a couple of days ago on Friday! Both bands will be performing at Black Sheep on Monday, October 2nd – one week from tomorrow.

The new Screaming Females song is called “Black Moon” which you can find streaming on the youtube player below. This is the band’s first new song since their 2015 album Rose Mountain which was released shortly before the band performed at Black Sheep the first time around that March.

Then also on Friday, Impose Magazine debuted a new track from Looming’s upcoming album, Seed. The song is the title track of the new album – “Seed.” You can check out the song in the Impose Magazine article online right hereSeed‘s official release is at Black Sheep for the show on October 2nd. It is being released by No Sleep Records and is Looming’s second album after Nailbiter was released in 2015.

Tickets for the show on October 2nd are still available! You can purchase advance tickets for $12 online right here, or also inside Dumb Records at any time the store is open (every day from noon – 8:00 pm). Advance tickets will be available until 8:00 pm on Sunday, October 1st. After that they will be available at the door for $15.

Bottom Bracket: “No Pressure”

Today, Springfield technical emo band Bottom Bracket dropped a first hit single off of their upcoming EP, Dreamland which is coming out on CD in one week at The Black Sheep 12 Year Anniversary Show on September 16th. The song released today is called “No Pressure” and is the first song on the five-track EP which can be pre-ordered online right here. Today New Noise Magazine premiered the song on their website, which you can check out right here. In addition to Bottom Bracket releasing their new CD, the Taylorville-based grunge rock band Stick People will also be releasing their CD, Lips at the show as well.

Stick People: “On The Floor”

Taylorville rock / grunge band Stick People have yet again released another hit single for a song called “On The Floor.” This one was also NOT recorded up in Southtown Sound – the band has been working on a new EP in our very own recording studio but are holding off on releasing those songs. Stay tuned for more info on that and info on a release show happening at Black Sheep in the near future. The band may or may not be also working on a new music video for one of the songs from the Southtown Sound sessions?? Stick People will be performing at the show happening tonight at Black Sheep along with Undone and Rash. That one kicks off at 7:30 pm. They will also be playing Black Sheep Fest happening in just two weeks on August 5th, and another show on August 12th along with It’s Me: Ross, Special Death, and Bottom Bracket.

Stick People: “No Fun”

This past week the Taylorville grunge punk band Stick People released a new recorded track called “No Fun.” The band has been working with new studio in Southtown – Southtown Sound on a new release, however this song was NOT recorded up in Southtown Sound. Instead it was recorded by Kevin Carman of Track 5 Productions. Stream that track on the player below.

Stick People will be performing next at Black Sheep in around two weeks at a show on July 22nd with RASH and Undone. They will also be playing at Black Sheep Fest 2017 on Saturday, August 5th. We’ll be sure to keep you all posted on new music recorded in Southtown Sound as soon as that is released!

Eric Marvel: “Soma”

Here’s your healthy dose of new Springfield music for the day. Today we are bringing you a fresh new track from solo artist Eric Marvel. The track is called “Soma” and comes from a brand new Disappointment! EP coming out later in August. Stream that track on the player below, or head over to Eric’s soundcloud page. Eric doesn’t have any shows currently lined up but you can maybe expect to hear some info on a release show at Black Sheep at some point soon?

Stream 5 Songs From Food & Money LP

It doesn’t get much better than this folks, we tell you what. Today we are bringing you five hot tracks from the upcoming Food & Money (1979-1982) LP, which will be available for the first time ever at the show inside Black Sheep tomorrow night. The full record will be a collection of 21 songs from the band’s catalogue – some of which were recorded in 1980 and have never been released in any format. Below you can get a taste of the very first punk and new wave music to come out of right here in Springfield. Head over to the Alona’s Dream bandcamp page to stream all five songs that are currently available. Pictured above is a limited screen printed outer sleeve that will be going on the LPs available at the show. You can expect the record to be available at Dumb Records following this weekend of reunion shows.
