Good morning everyone, we hope you are ready for our first post-Dumb Fest show happening at Black Sheep tonight. This one features bands coming from New York, Indiana, and Kentucky! Wow! Starting on the top: we have melodic punk rock / metal band The Muckrakers traveling all the way from New York City! Before that at some point is an act called “Dana Skully and the Tiger Sharks” from Indianapolis, Indiana which leans more on the lighter folk punk side of things. The one other touring act is the band Mosquito from Louisville, Kentucky. Surely you don’t want to mess with Mosquito- stream some of their music on the player below. The one group familiar to the Black Sheep stage is the Decatur-based band This Is A Stick Up!
All of this is kicking off at 7:00 pm on Thursday night. Admission is $5. Check out a facebook event for the show right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page (we are working on getting updated right now) for a list of things coming up at Black Sheep.
Tonight we have a very special show going on at Black Sheep, also our last before the great big Dumb Fest (aside from a workshop tomorrow). Tonight is the CD release for not one, but TWO local bands and we are very excited. It is going to be the big EP release show for new local band “The Little Death” for their Way Happier EP. The Little Death features members of former Springfield band Fill In The Blank. Also on this show is Springfield alternative rock group – Rockford’s CD release as well. Rockford has also been working on new recordings. The third local rock group we have on this bill to complete that trifecta of sorts is Bottom Bracket. Then there are a couple of touring acts. This includes Bosley Mongo from Chicago. Check out their music streaming on the player below. This also includes the band Sidelined from Newton, Illinois who have been around for a good minute and have played at our space a few times over the years. Opening things up we have HECK which is the solo work of Hannah Songer.
This show starts at 7:00 pm and admission is $7. Check out a facebook event for the show right here. Also check out our shows page (we are working on updating) for a list of what else is coming up at Black Sheep this month.
It’s Memorial Day and it’s going to be a hot one!! To go along with this hot hot day, we have a hot hot show tonight. That’s right, we have Looming making a return and playing their first local show since their last LP release show for their second album Seed back in October. We are very excited to have them back! This time Looming have friends Lola Tired coming on tour from Austin, Texas. You can stream some of their music on the player below. This will all be preceded by local blues punk rock band Spell Breaker from right here in Springfield. Opening things up is the indie rock alternative talent of The Telephone Junkies also from right here in town.
This show will start at 7:00 pm and admission is $8. Check out a facebook event for this one right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page for a good look at what else is coming up at Black Sheep this summer.
Tonight inside our space! This is going to be an interesting night because we have a Central Illinois-based comedy/improv group called “The Zoo” coming to perform inside Black Sheep. We are not exactly sure what to expect, so we are all in for a wild ride together! In addition to The Zoo we have a normal number of performing acts as well. This includes local singer/songwriter from the heart Alec James. Also local solo performer Whitney Devine. Then a new solo act from Pawnee Illinois who has not yet played at Black Sheep – Dexter Anodyne. Opening things up we have a performance by none other than local hip hop project Animals With Human Names! Stream the newest tape release by A.W.H.N. on the player below.
Things kick off tonight at 7:00 pm. Admission is $7. Check out a facebook event for this one right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page for a list of upcoming shows at Black Sheep this summer.
We have a big one lined up at Black Sheep for all of you hardcore rock n’ roll fanatics. It’s the only show we’ve got going on this weekend too so better come out and make it special. For this show we have Pryss. For this show we also have… No Cash Value™ from Jacksonville, Illinois the future of punk in Central Illinois itself. There is a touring band. It looks like they are going right smack dab in the middle of the lineup and that is Die Young from Texas. This also is going to be the return of The Dry Look from Champaign / Urbana Illinois since their last time hear at Dumb Fest 5 last summer. Opening things up looks like is the second show of new Springfield hardcore band Graveswitcher. Check out that new Graveswitcher on the player below if you haven’t already.

Tonight at Black Sheep! We have a three band weirdo punk show going on, and hopefully it will be the weirdest of weird. We have the interesting jazz-punk fusion group “Preening” coming all the way from Oakland California featuring members of familiar groups to our stage The Blues and Violence Creeps. Check out their newest music streaming on the player below. Also lined up is Springfield local rock group Livin’ Thing, who will be performing tonight as an eight-piece band. Opening things up is a rare performance by the experimental diary-reading project of Scott Faingold and Jason Perry called “The Heptanes.”
The show tonight starts at 7:00 pm and admission is $5-7 sliding scale. Check out a facebook event right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page for a good look at what else is coming up this spring / summer.
There is a show happening at Black Sheep tonight that we haven’t officially announced on this site yet! We are sorry! Thank you all who came out to Dumb Records at any point yesterday in support of Record Store Day- it was the store’s biggest day yet! Tonight we have a just short and sweet three-act show. The flier isn’t completely right either – Dee Dee Catpiss band will not be playing tonight. Instead we do have the return of Nectar from Champaign who just had a new album come out on Infinity Cat Records and was recorded last year right here in Springfield at Capital City Recording. Stream that new album on the player below. In addition to Nectar we have Springfield rockers Spell Breaker. Opening things up and the latest addition to the show is birthday boy Mike Butler. That’s right, it really is his birthday.
This show starts tonight at 7:00 pm. Admission is $5. Check out a facebook event for the show right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page for a list of what else is coming up at Black Sheep this spring.
