Tonight! It’s a Thursday night and this is what we have going on. We have big noise core act “Napalm Death is Dead” coming all the way from Tokyo, Japan! Wow! They will be coming along with Unexamine – another noise act from California. Check out some pure Unexamined noise on the player below. Then we have an act from Ohio with a NOT very family appropriate name *warning* and that is “Penis Geyser” (that is right, we did not edit) (sorry). This show will also be the passing of one local act and the welcoming in of a brand new one. The act playing it’s final show is Gutterpriest – which has been active playing noise in Springfield for a few years now. The first ever show is of a new band called “Uncle Sam’s Mutagenic Children”!
This show starts next Thursday at 7:00 pm, admission is $5 or whatever you can do to support the touring acts. Check out a facebook event for this one right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page to take a look at what else is coming up in the next few months.
Tonight is going to be a classic double header gig! Actually, it’s the first time we have done anything like this with two shows going on- one at Dumb Records, and another at Black Sheep. There will be seven bands tonight total- all going back and forth between Black Sheep and Dumb Records.
Here’s what’s going on on the Black Sheep side of things: for this show we have two touring bands – one being Lucy Furr from Indianappolis, Indiana. Check out their music on the player below. The other touring act is a band called “Kids Born Wrong” from Louisville, Kentucky. Those bands will be joined by local support from Springfield’s own Foam Fangers – and then also Decatur’s own This Is A Stick Up! (both stellar punk groups).
Then inside Dumb Records (and happening in between bands at Black Sheep and Dumb) – we have touring act Justice Decays from Grand Rapids, Michigan. You can stream some music from them on the player below. Also on this show is Springfield hardcore band Pryss. Then we have a brand new punk band opening this show up called “M.A.C.“.
All of this starts with a first band going on at Black Sheep promptly at 7:00 pm. Admission is $5 for each show ($10 total). Check out a facebook event for The Black Sheep show right here and a facebook event for Dumb Records right here. Also check out our shows page for a good look at what else is coming up at Black Sheep in the coming months.
Thank you all who came out to the show last night to catch some international punk! Now we have another one going on tonight! We are excited to welcome back Dowsing – playing for the first time at Black Sheep for the first time since Dumb Fest 3-D back in 2015. The band has picked up quite the following since they started, and you can stream some of their music on the player below. This time around Dowsing will be on tour with another heavy-hitting emo band – Dikembe from Gainesville, Florida. For locals on the bill we have Jessica Knight of Looming performing a solo set. We also have a new Decatur-based hip hop project called “Chocolate In Your Pocket“, which should be interesting! Opening things up is Marble Teeth, also from Decatur.
This show will start at 7:00 pm and admission is $7. You can find a facebook event for this one right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page for a look at what else is coming up at Black Sheep this summer.
We hope you all had a great weekend, now it’s time for two shows at Black Sheep back to back starting tonight! The one tonight features a band from Australia! How cool! That band is Soakie – punk band from Melbourne, Australia and you can find their music streaming on the player below. We also have another touring band on the bill and that is the fast and angry Gassed from Lexington, Kentucky – who last played in Springfield as part of Dumb Fest 4-ever a couple of years back. Both of those bands will be joined by local support from No Cash Value and Foam Fangers.
This show will start at 7:00 pm and admission is $6. Check out a facebook event for the show right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page for a look at what else is coming up at Black Sheep in the near future.
Here we are with the third show of the weekend for us, and the third show in our streak! It’s another one being put together by The Telephone Junkies, who just performed this past Monday, for some touring acts out of town. (Yes, The Telephone Junkies will be playing this show as well). This one is for Providence, Rhode Island indie-rock group “Dogs on Shady Lane“. You can stream some of their music on the player below. The other out of town act is a group called “Johnnycatland” from Oak Park, Illinois up north, also described as indie-rock. Opening things up is local solo musician Mike Butler, formerly of the band Vonne.
This show starts tonight at 7:00 pm. Admission is $5. You can find a facebook event for the show right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page – which is actually really updated this time!
Here is show #2 in our three show streak this weekend, happening tonight! Tonight we are handing over the reigns to M22TV and HISO Music for a night (yes, it says “Fest” on the flier but oh no we can not handle another full on fest right now)!!! This will be a hip hop show of sorts featuring what looks like five different artists. At the top of the bill we have “VINNY“, ~YT~, and M-22 all of which we are unable to find anything about online, and all of which are new to the Black Sheep stage! You can find a snippet of music and a new album teaser for M-22 on facebook right here. Come out to this show for a chance to hear the album in full. There’s also an artist from Farmington, Illinois – Jordan Chance. Also there is one full band that has been described to us as indie-rock, they are called Topical! and are from Macomb, Illinois. From our understanding opening things up is an artist familiar to the Black Sheep stage – Animals With Human Names (even though he is not listed on the flier).
This show kicks off at 6:30 pm *updated* on Saturday, admission is $5. Find a facebook event for the show right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page for a look at what else is coming up at Black Sheep this summer.
Tonight’s a night kicking off a string of three shows we have lined up in a row at Black Sheep! It is also going to be the official tour kickoff for local band Bottom Bracket as they head out to the East Coast for the next ten days or so. This show features plenty of friends of the band- including the Alton, Illinois band Reaver. Stream some of Reaver’s newest music on the player embedded below. We also have the Taylorville alternative rock band we have not seen in a minute on the bill – Stick People. How nice! At the beginning of the lineup we have a solo performance by Hannah Songer as “HECK“. The band Oversleeping has dropped from the bill since the show was announced (sorry).
All of that starts tonight at 7:00 pm. Admission for this show is $6. Find a facebook event for this one right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page for a look at what else is coming up at Black Sheep this summer.
