Hi, here we are on this dreary Sunday continuing our crazy six-day streak full of shows. Tonight there is nothing going on at Black Sheep – but there is a show going on at a house in town called the CFP (Centucky Fried Peanut) house. This one is for the touring act Frail Body from Rockford, Illinois up north. Cool! Also on this show is hardcore band Final Order from right here home grown and raised. Also homegrown hardcore and raised is Graveswitcher who just played here last night. Other than that, there’s Capitol Offense (hardcore heavy band) from Decatur. And opening things up it looks like… Crowning (no, actually they probably wouldn’t be opening up), from Chicago.

That is your show. Things start at 7:00 pm over there at The CFP, sorry we can’t tell you where the house is on there. $5 for the touring bands. Find a facebook event for that one right here. Also check out our Springfield shows page for a list of shows going on outside of Black Sheep (we are working on).

This weekend is all sorts of crazy packed with shows going on in town starting with the show that happened last night. This one is happening this upcoming Sunday, November 4th at the CFP house. On Saturday night, after the Collision #2 art show is done at Black Sheep, there will be an aftershow featuring both art and music at local house venue “CFP”. This is the third? forth? show to happen at the new venue. This show also features the return of Columbus, Ohio touring act Toxic Womb to Springfield (last they were here was November of 2016 at Black Sheep). Stream some of Toxic Womb’s music on the player below. This show also features the incredibly wacky Livin’ Thing blues band. And opening things up is the three-piece fast hardcore band Prowess. In addition to the music there will be artworks on the display by artists Milk Tirehaus, Frank Lee Ray, Zoe Birsa, and Zoe Isabelle.

This event starts over at the CFP at 9:00 pm. Where is The CFP located? We won’t tell you. But maybe be sure to come out to the Collision #2 at Black Sheep before then and we can lead you on a scavenger hunt to find the house! Find a facebook event for this one right here.

Monday at CFP: Jocko, Pryss, Graveswitcher

Right after the block of shows that we have lined up at Black Sheep there will be another rare Springfield house show happening at new basement venue “CFP” (we are still not exactly sure what this stands for but right now our best guess is Carter’s Fried Pickles). This one is this upcoming Monday, March 26th. It features hardcore rap-rock band Jocko from Omaha, Nebraska (home of the band 311). Stream that hot new Jocko promo on the player below and get pumped for the gig. Also on this show is Springfield hardcore band Pryss, who also recently dropped a three-song cassette tape. Opening things up is a brand new band featuring Mitch Baker of the band Looming called “Graveswitcher“. This show is also a celebration of Mitchell’s birthday. Be sure to bring a present.

It looks like things will be starting off over at the house at 7:00 pm and you should bring $5 for the touring bands as well as a present for Mitch of the band Looming. If you are not sure of the coordinates of the CFP house, go to the facebook event and ask an admin. Check our Springfield shows page for a list of other shows coming up outside of Black Sheep.

There’s a show happening this weekend in Springfield at a brand new house venue!? Did you know that? And it’s not the Radon Lounge! (Instead The Radon Lounge is going to be taking over Black Sheep on Saturday). What kind of backwards weekend is this? On Friday night, February 9th there will be a show featuring an all local lineup of three bands at a new house venue called “The C.F.P.” (we do not know what this officially stands for but our best bet is Carter’s Friendship Palace). This show will feature hit Springfield rock group Spell Breaker, a band very familiar to our own Black Sheep stage. Taylorville’s secret band Stick People will also be making an appearance. Then (we are guessing opening things up) is the first performance of a brand new Springfield band that we know little about called “Sorry Charlie.” Those three acts.

The show starts at 7:00 over at this mysterious new house. To find out where it is, go check out the facebook event. Admission is donation based. Also check out our shows page for the best list of shows happening in town outside of Black Sheep that we could put together.

Today we have a rare Springfield house show coming up to tell you about. No, this one is not at The Radon Lounge, this time around it’s at Laser House – another house venue that occasionally puts on living room shows. This one is happening on Saturday, September 9th. You can expect this one to be indie-rock of sorts – it features headlining act Victor Villareal who performed in iconic emo / indie bands Cap’n Jazz, Joan of Arc, and Owls. Check out Victor’s newest solo material streaming on the player below. This show also features the work of local poet Johari Idusuyi. Then opening things up is an act familiar to Laser House and that is Sleeping Cranes currently based out of St. Louis.

This show starts over at Laser House at 8:00 pm, and admission is $10. Seating is limited! If you wish to inquire about the address or other details, email laserhouse217@gmail.com. Find a facebook event right here.

Each year our pals over at The Radon Lounge (Springfield house venue) put on a pretty killer Holiday show, which they call their “Christmas Explosion.” This year The Radon Lounge’s Christmas Explosion is happening on Saturday, December 11th. There will be three acoustic acts performing. The first of which is Dan Smith who performs in the band Listener from Ohio. You can stream some of Listener’s music on the player below. Also on the lineup is another solo act, Levi The Poet. Then kicking things off is Kris Rochelle from the band Red Sweater Lullaby, who also recently performed at Radon. In addition to music you can expect to find a potluck, various games, and coffee.

The Christmas Explosion will begin at 6:30 pm and tickets are $10. Tickets can be pre-ordered online right here. Check out a facebook event for the show right here. The Radon Lounge’s shows are all ages, and to find the address you have to inquire at radonlounge@gmail.com.
