Today and Tonight at Black Sheep: “Get Connected” Hip Hop Event + Starlorde, GRINN, Magma Diver, Nagasaki, Undone

We’ve made it here to the weekend and now things are going to be nonstop around Southtown with a lot going on all over the place. Today there are not one but TWO shows happening at Black Sheep.

The first of those is the “Get Connected” networking event being put together by Kick-It-Coalition. This starts at 2:00 pm and goes until 6:00 pm. Here’s more on what’s going on from the event description:

This event is designed for local/regional artists to connect with music industry professionals including Chicago’s Show MrMogul Case (CEO ofH3 Entertainment), St. Louis’ Dj Whobeta (Founder MWB $1,000 showcase series), DjJuice Ortiz (Nerve Djs/ Coast 2 Coast Mixtapes DJ) and more.

WIth live performances from OTF/ Def Jam RecordingsHypno Carlito and Dottie Staxx (2 million views on YouTube) this networking event will be#Lit!

Moving on to the next show happening- starting at 7:00 pm we have five punk bands lined up! It will feature your local favorites- including the hardcore space act Starlorde. We also have GRINN bringing more of that hardcore. Before them is a newer Central-Illinois based punk band called “Magma Diver.” Before them is school bus far bomb punk band Nagasaki. Opening things up we have a rare performance by the band Undone- who last took the Black Sheep stage before a UIS professor’s book release in January.

Get ready for the next 217 hip hop event to take place in Southtown – it’s a “Get Connected” networking event being put on by Kick-It Coalition taking place next weekend, the afternoon of next Saturday, March 25th. There will also be a killer punk show happening at Black Sheep that night which we will tell you more about tomorrow. The hip hop event will be going from 2:00 to 6:00 pm inside Black Sheep. Tonight at Black Sheep: “217 Day Music Fest!”

It’s February 17th! Or 2-17, or “217 Day” for those of you who are proud to be living in that 217 area code. Since 2-17 day just so happens to be on a Friday night in February and the weather is hot outside, we are holding a big show / (almost) music festival inside Black Sheep tonight. This one is thanks to the Kick-It Coalition! Tonight we give you a mix of hip hop and other genres for a full night of some of what the 217 area code has to offer! Today at Dumb Records + HISO + Black Sheep: “Midwest Industry Insiders Conference”

We have an event mixing things up happening throughout the day today at Dumb Records, HISO Music Studio, and also Black Sheep. This is being called the “Midwest Industry Insiders Conference” being put together by 217hiphop and the Kick-It-Coalition. We are excited to be working with all of those different groups on this event, geared more towards those interested in an inside look at the entertainment industry from a hip hop and R&B standpoint. The conference is going to be an all day thing with different events taking place at the different locations. Let’s take a look at what’s planned:

2:00 – 4:00 pm inside Dumb Records:
A panel discussion with some of the Midwest’s foremost authorities on entertainment business with topics such as, the pros and cons of major label record deals, how to fund a national tour, and how to properly own and distribute your music.

4:00 – 6:00 pm inside HISO Studios:
A listening and writing session with Gold Selling songwriters and recording artists, Da Twin Towerz who are responsible for co-writing Drake and Rihanna‘s hit single “Too Good”, plus have written for or collaborated with such artists as R. Kelly, Katy Perry, and French Montana, The session will include live feedback on local artist music as well as a chance to write and produce a new music.

7:00 – 10:00 pm at Black Sheep:
An artist showcase where fans and artists will catch a live performance from Da Twin Towerz plus performances from Trap Republic Records artists. Those artists who sign-up will perform a 6 minute set in front of our special guest judges or a chance to walk away with promotinal packages and an up to $500 cash prize! (Showcase slots are limited)

Tonight at Black Sheep: The New Class 4 Hip Hop Show

We have a good mix of shows going on at Black Sheep this weekend, starting with the rockin’ “Farewell Summer” show last night. Tonight we have our first hip hop show that we’ve had in a minute. This one is “The New Class 4” and the 4th new class show being set up by The Kick-It Coalition and straightdrophiphop.com. There will be a number of performers lined up for that night, focusing on young and new artists of the Springfield hip hop scene. The event will feature DJJuiceOritz and Nerve DJs Mixtapes providing music in between and before acts. If you are interested in performing sounds like you will be able to sign up at Black Sheep the day of the show up until start time at 7:30 pm.
