Best of Springfield Music 2017: Songs

SONGS.jpg

Here we are with the second part of our three part Best of Springfield Music 2017 series with your top vote songs that came from Springfield bands and musicians in the past year! Nice! We had quite the time going through all of these and adding up the totals (there are a lot of songs out there). Once again, we do not have write-ups for all of these (sorry), just the straight forward results and the embedded songs on bandcamp players below. Enjoy! We’ll return tomorrow with the third and final installment of this series.

1. Bottom Bracket – Bottom Bracket

2. Telephone Junkies – Monday Morning

3. Looming – Queen

4. Stick People – Easier Said

5. Kate Laine – This Is Not A Test

We have a nice Thursday night treat coming up this coming week at Black Sheep on Thursday, February 8th to get you all pumped for the Super Bowl. This one features all types of alternative rock. We have The Complaint Line headlining the bill from right here in Springfield. We also have the indie-sad rock band from Springfield/Taylorville called The Little Death up before them. This show will feature one out of town act and that is a newer Champaign indie rock group called Our Landmark. You can stream some of their music on the player below. Opening things up this time around is hit #1 2017 album of the year band, Bottom Bracket.

That one will start at 7:00 pm and admission is $5. Check out a facebook event for the show right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page for a list of shows coming up at Black Sheep in the near future.

The one show happening at Black Sheep is tonight, and looks like it is going to be good! For this one we have Danville, Illinois post-rock band Earthholder headlining the bill. Check out their music streaming on the player below. We also have hardcore band Pryss giving this show a nice mix. Before that is Taylorville heavy hitting grunge band Stick People. Then before we are going to close our eyes and Pretend I’m Not There. Before that is two-piece or three-piece new Springfield band Glower. And opening things up or going early on is another out of town band and that is Reaver from St. Louis.

This whopper of a show will start promptly at 7:00 pm and admission is $7. Check out a facebook event for this one right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page for a good look at what else is coming up at Black Sheep in the coming months.
