Screen Shot 2017-12-25 at 1.03.24 PM.png

Seasons greetings from those of us here at Black Sheep / Dumb Records headquarters! Today we are bringing you a special feature film put together by our friends in the band Kowabunga! Kid. They star in this new 8 1/2 minute long feature film about saving Christmas that we think some of you might enjoy. Check it out on the player below.

We’ll be back with our regular content (hopefully) tomorrow! Don’t forget that today and tomorrow is the last day to vote in our end of the year music poll, and we will be posting those results shortly!

Best of Springfield 2017 Music Poll

Alright, we’ve finally got it together over here. We ended up with a total count of 55 local releases of original music that we can tell this year thanks to your help, which is a lot. Now it is time for us to launch our annual end of the year Best of Springfield Music Poll where we get to highlight some of your favorite bands, musicians, and shows that happened in the past year! As with previous years, there are three categories to our poll – albums, songs, and shows. The only required category is albums, and for that you have to check anywhere from 2 to 5 releases that came out this year (list is in the poll). You might have to think a bit harder to list out some of your favorite songs! To help there are links to most of the releases from this year on this post! You might have to think a little bit for your favorite shows this year too, take your time!

The Best Of Survey will be up for exactly one week, ending on Tuesday, December 26th at 9:00 pm! Once the results are collected we will have featured write-ups on our site for the top ten voted for in each category. You can check out last year’s (2016) results for shows herealbums here, and songs here. We have also been building an ultimate Springfield album archive / database of Springfield releases over the past year or so on our site which you can check out right here.

Black Sheep Game Show Happening Tonight

We do have something weird going on at Black Sheep tonight that we haven’t really even told you about. It’s the first ever Black Sheep game show??? Put on by B.J. Pearce (Black Sheep, Southtown Sound, etc) aka “Bingo Jack” it seems like BJ has some tricks up his sleeves for this and we aren’t really sure how to explain what’s going to happen. We DO know there is some sort of $50 grand price for one lucky winner. BJ will be hosting the game show with his mom as his assistant. There will also be live music at some point in there by a local jazz group called “Jack’d”? We probably sure are in for a treat tonight.

Everyone participating tonight needs to show up RIGHT at 7:00 pm if not early to qualify. Looks like admission is $5, normal show price? Find a facebook event for this wacky spectacle right here. Also check out our shows page for a list of what else is coming up at Black Sheep in the near future.

December 14th at Black Sheep: Bottom Bracket, Stick People

You’re invited! This upcoming week on Thursday, December 14th we are having a show featuring just two bands – Bottom Bracket and Stick People. Yes, it’s a birthday party for Cassie Crawford (Garter), but also a show open to the whole wide public world – you don’t have to bring a gift! You might expect to find some refreshments, or maybe some fun games as well (like bobbing for apples or pin the tail on the donkey).

This one starts at 7:00 pm and admission is $5. You can find a facebook event for this one right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page where we keep a list of everything coming up in Southtown!
