Tonight come out of the last show of this busy month of July, and also the last show here until Black Sheep Fest next weekend! You remember that band from Louisville, Kentucky called “The Foxery”? They played here a few times, but have changed their name or something like that to “Pleasures of the Flesh” and they are playing here for this show. Check out some of their music under that name on the player below. Also on this show we’ve got emo/indie band Bottom Bracket. We’ve also got our friends from over in Champaign/Urbana in the band Krelboyne coming over to rock for us. Opening things up is that hit Taylorville band that everyone has been raving about, Stick People.
This show starts at 7:00 pm and admission is $6. Check out a facebook event for this one right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page for a good look at everything else coming up at Black Sheep this summer.
Today we bring you a video of the band Runaway Brother from Cleveland, Ohio performing at Black Sheep earlier this month on July 8th. The song is called “Harvest” which is the first track off of the band’s album Mother which you can stream the recorded version of right here. Check out that video embedded below.
Also check out our vids/pics page for a long list of videos and pictures taken from over the years at Black Sheep.
It’s the very end of July right now and everything sure is sneaking up on us. Did you know that Black Sheep Fest 2017 is just one week away happening on Saturday, August 5th? Today we finally are getting our annual Black Sheep Fest t-shirt design poll up and running. We’ve had 4 submissions this year which you can find below:
That’s it! You can put in your vote for your favorite design to get printed on shirts for this year’s fest right here. We are closing off the poll at 9:00 pm tomorrow (Sunday). We are also keeping all of our artists anonymous for now to keep things fair!
Find a facebook event for Black Sheep Fest 2017 right here. Black Sheep Fest starts next weekend at 3:00 pm and there are 15 acts performing. We may or may not be handing out mix CDs for the fest today at Downhome Music Festival downtown.
Many of you may have forgotten that during Dumb Fe5t (now over one month ago), Southtown Sound was not necessarily opened up as a show space but instead they were in their own corner of our neighborhood working away recording countless bands for a special project. Today we are releasing that compilation of songs that were recorded as live tracks throughout that entire weekend – 15 songs from 15 different bands who all played this past year at Dumb Fe5t. Stream that entire compilation on the player below. Also head over to the Prescience Tapes bandcamp page to download the entire compilation at your own price. Prescience Tapes will be releasing a physical format of the comp which will hopefully be available on cassette at Black Sheep Fest and also at Dumb Records.
Now that the Dumb Fe5t compilation is out there, and more non-live recordings are on the way (from Bottom Bracket, Stick People, and more)- you can expect a big update from us on what Southtown Sound has been up to some time next week!
We all know that tonight is going to be a great show happening at Black Sheep because we have a rare appearance by Looming. Now based out of Springfield and Pittsburg, Looming has only performed at Black Sheep one other time this year back in March. They have their second album, Seed coming out on No Sleep Records later this year on September 29th. Stream the first song to be released off of that “Down” on the player embedded below. Also tonight we have the return of the band Aviator from Massachusetts for the first time in over two years. Check out some of their music streaming on the player below. We also have the band Lume from Chicago, who played here last later last year as part of one of Our Lady’s last shows. Opening things up we have a special treat and that is the local band Moondead… playing their final show? Come out to see them one last time!
This show starts at 7:00 pm and admission is $7. Check out a facebook event for this one right here. Also be sure to check out our shows page for a good look at everything else coming up at Black Sheep this summer!
Tonight we have a pretty big show at Black Sheep lined up for all of the metal fans out there. This one features heavy big time touring act Outlier from San Jose, California. We are happy to have them. You can stream some music from Outlier on the player embedded below. Also on this show is heavy hitting Central Illinois metalcore act Noesis. They are actually heading out on tour themselves pretty soon! We also got the hard rock act Abyss on board for this one. Opening things up looks like we’ve got Crown The Martyr from Peoria, Illinois.
This show will start right at 7:00 pm, admission is $8 for this big metal gig. Find a facebook event for this one right here. Also be sure to check our shows page for a good look at what else is coming up at Black Sheep in the near future.
Taylorville rock / grunge band Stick People have yet again released another hit single for a song called “On The Floor.” This one was also NOT recorded up in Southtown Sound – the band has been working on a new EP in our very own recording studio but are holding off on releasing those songs. Stay tuned for more info on that and info on a release show happening at Black Sheep in the near future. The band may or may not be also working on a new music video for one of the songs from the Southtown Sound sessions?? Stream “On The Floor” on the player below, recorded by Kevin Carman of Track 5 Productions. Head over to Stick People’s bandcamp page to download the track for $1.
Stick People will be performing at the show happening tonight at Black Sheep along with Undone and Rash. That one kicks off at 7:30 pm. They will also be playing Black Sheep Fest happening in just two weeks on August 5th, and another show on August 12th along with It’s Me: Ross, Special Death, and Bottom Bracket.
